Some Reasons for the Appeal of Hitler and the NSDAP

Most works written concerning the Nazi seizure of power deal with the inability of the German government to return the nation to normality . In these works people like General Kurt von Schleicher and Franz von Papen and the Herrenklub dominate the paper. On the other hand, however, not much is written concerning the attitudes of the German people or the attitudes of the competing political parties in the Weimar Republic . It is my belief that within these attitudes lies the answer to how and why Hitler and and the Nazis gained control of Germany. In order to have a complete picture of the Nazi takeover it is necessary for one to be knowledgeable in the areas of political, economic and social history of that time . But those areas do not give the whole picture. They leave out what I attempt to show in this paper: What the German people saw in the Nazi movement and why they saw what they did.
