AGENDA 2010: The Crisis of the Gennan Welfare State and the Need for Reform
Abstract
In this paper I intend to examine how these principles exist today and the
problems they present to the German economy when in conjunction with the current
population shift. I will present these facts in light of the goals of the SPD (Sozial
Demokratische Partei). The SPD is the party that is pushing for reforms and is also the
party that has historically represented the interests of the working class. My own goal is
to evaluate Agenda 2010, judging its worth in spite of the widespread controversy it has
provoked, and the likelihood of its success.
