dc.description.abstractMy SIp started out to be simply to help the Center for Environmental Study (Grand Rapids, MI) staff with one of their ongoing projects, but after several talks with Mr. Nunn, it was decided that a translation from DYNAIvIO to CSMP might be more appropriate and educational. The riv.er model was chosen for the translation effort primarily because it was the only DYNANO model being worked on which was also reasonably complete (meaning that about half of it had been programmed and debugged). As the problems involved in the translation became more apparent, the amount·of the river model being translated was decreased, until only the flow and temperature sections remained. In this SIP, I am not particularly concerned with the validity of the DYNANO model. Instead, I am merely translating from DYNAM!O to CSMP, and comparing the outputs of the model in the two different languages, using the output of the DYNAMO model as the basis of comparison. In other words, the DYNAMO model gives the "correct" results.en_US
