    Abstract
A method of modeling the VHF radio wave field strength is presented for use in evaluating the effective zone of communication and the additional area in which interference with other sources transmitting on the same frequency could occur. The discussion begins with the fundamentals of radio wave production, propagation, and reception. A surface modeling technique is then described. Finally, a program that can be used for the determination of the "area coverage" of a transmitter is discussed, along with its method of use and suggestions for further development.
