Abstract
When I first decided to intern at Kalamazoo Central I had some idea that the band program had been struggling, but I did not fully realize the extent of the problems plaguing the band program until I myself had been involved with the program for a few months. This paper is my attempt to describe my experience for people outside the program. While perhaps not a traditional research document, this paper is nevertheless the result of many hours of listening, observation, research, and experiences. Music is so important to our lives as an outlet for expression, a channel for energy, a describe of our world, and a link to different worlds past and future. We just cannot afford to let any music be lost? What if it is never found again?
