Development of a Timing Divice Suitable for Swimming Events

Abstract

This paper describes the design of an answer to the problem of inaccurate timing devices at swimming contests. The idea to build the system was conceived of during my Career Service Quarter, Sophmore year. From then until last summer the project was just an idea waiting to be realized. During the fall quarter 1971 the idea became a reality.
