Automation of the Keithley 194A High Speed Voltmeter Using labview 2.2.1, Applied to Opto-Acoustic Experiments
Abstract
The intent of this project is to develop and explain a computer program
written to control and analyze data from a digital instrument. That capability is
then applied to several laboratory experiments involving sound and light waves in
some capacity. The bulk of the time spent on this project was dedicated to the
development of the software. For that reason, the theory concerning the
experiments is not extremely technical or in-depth. Most of the concepts involved
are learned in Introductory Physics classes. I feel that the importance of the project
is not in a detailed explanation of the experiments, but in a program which works
consistently, enabling future research to be carried out with few, if any, problems
arising with the operation of the computer and the instrument which it controls.
