dc.description.abstractThe effect of phosphorus limitation on the growth and development of hair cells was examined in an isolate of the freshwater red alga Audouinella violacea (Kutz.) Hamel. The concentrations of 10, 50, 250, and 1250ugl-1 P04 were found to have no significant effect on hair cell development over a twelve-week period. In addition, concentrations of 0.625, 1.25, 2.5, and 5.0µgI- 1 P04 had no significant effect after three weeks of treatment. Hair cell number and hair length over time were not significantly related.en_US
