Abstract
1. The fresh-water clam, Pleurobema coccineum,
demonstrates a relatively well developed
Pasteur effect.
2. The time factor study affords some insight
to the rates of glucose and glycogen metabolism
under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
3. Lactic acid was observed in minute quantities;
the appearance or absence of lactic acid in
the tissue is indicative of excretion, recycling
and/or storage, which may be characteristic
of the metabolic mechanism of this
organism.
