A clinical experience is most valuable for one aspiring for a career in medicine. It offers a chance to become familiar with life in the hospital on an interactive basis with patients while at the same time it presents avenues of intellectual pursuit. The actual experience was that of a venipuncturist and deaner to a pathologist. The purpose of this thesis is to tie together separate aspects of renal structure and function in an attempt to understand selected renal failures. Information concerning the anatomy and physiology of normal renal function has been obtained from literature research. Clinical aspects and pathologic data have been obtained from various sources ranging from that found in the literature to that actually seen at autopsy.en_US
