Abstract
My intern teaching took place at Milwood Middle School, a junior high school on the south side of Kalamazoo. The school is classified as an inner city school because of the percentage of families in poverty, and it's population is around fifty or sixty percent minority students. The principal, Dr. Darrel Clay, understands what it takes to build and maintain a healthy school spirit, which is so essential in successfully promoting a good learning environment. The administrators and the faculty are clearly dedicated to progression in school performance and are constantly working on projects to improve their school. Dr. Clay is an ambitious grant writer, and his efforts allow the school to afford materials and participate in programs they would not otherwise be able to have or experience. Faculty spirit appears to be high and many of the staff obviously love their job which is evident in their relationship with the kids. Overall, my student teaching experience at Milwood Middle School was so good that it answered every question I had entering the experience.
