Abstract
This research will address the growing need in the United States for multicultural
science education. Following an extensive review of current literature in multicultural
science education theory and practice, the Teaching for Understanding framework is used to implement multicultural science education practices in a high school General Biology course, over the course of a 9 week marking period. At the conclusion of the marking period, a questionnaire and interview were used to obtain student input as to the validity
and effectiveness of said multicultural science education theory and practices.
