Abstract
A 13.3 kilobase pair (kbp) fragment of DNA from the
fungus Aspergillus nidulans was isolated and ligated to the
bacteriophage Charon 4A. The fragment contained structural
genes homologous to poly(A)+ RNAs that are accumulated during
conidiation and are not present in vegetative cells. Subfragments have now been isolated which,
when nick translated and hybridized to Northern blots of
developmental poly(A) + RNA, define the size, number and
location of these structural genes.
