Originally, I thought my preference was to teach in an area of low socio-economic status. However, having completed my student teaching in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, a fairly wealthy community, I came to realize that this is not altogether true. I was under the false impression that the more prosperous the community, the less needs the children had. Through this experience it became evident to me that these children of wealthy homes needed me as much as a person could ever be needed. My teaching experience was very successful and my last day was emotional for both me and my students. Many expressed ways in which I had made a difference in their lives. This was extremely important to me for my philosophy of teaching is to reach all kids, no matter what size, shape, or color, at their level in a creative manner. Great effort was put forth during my teaching time and it was a positive learning experience in many areas besides the one already stated, even though things were different than I suspected.
