Abstract
I have had many experiences within the realm of education but no experience has been more enlightening, inspiring, and joyful as my student teaching position at Lumen Christi High School in Jackson, Michigan. I have held various educational titles such as student, foreign student, tutor, teaching assistant, and preschool instructor. While all of these opportunities have been enriching and positive, practice teaching was, by far, the most rewarding. Student teaching affirmed my desire to use the educational process to not only transfer subject matter, but also to use teaching as a means to help adolescents realize and cherish their own self-worth. The notion of the importance of self-perception in education and in life is obviously not an original idea, but I believe that many teachers, administrators, and parents have lost this important concept. They seem to only be concerned with how students perform, not with how students feel about themselves. For it is my belief that a person will show maximum performance in their area of interest only when they possess a positive self-image.
