The Microbial Degradation of an Experimental Herbicide

The microbial degradation of the experimental herbicide U-27,267 was studied to determine the persistence of this chemical in the soil. Two microbial cultures were isolated which could initiate the degradation of this herbicide. The long term effects of this herbicide on soil microbial populations were also investigated. Other data permitted inferences concerning the herbicide's inhibitory effects on susceptible plants.
