With this project, I embrace my desire to understand how and why various "stories" present mental illness. As both ,a psychology major and an English major, my readings have addressed the issue of mental illness in many ways. While textbooks and theoretical works represent perhaps the most popular modes of writing about mental . illness in my psychology courses, the assertions and hypotheses that these texts present consistently find their support in "stories" about mentally ill individuals, or case studies. Case studies, like other stories, present dramatic snapshots of characters' lives recounted from the viewpoint of a narrator, specifically a clinician.en_US
