Red Square

In 1968 construction began on Dewing Hall (originally referred to as Wallace Hall) and at this time the conversion of Mandelle from the library into the administration building also was started. The Buildings & Grounds Committee felt that the space between Mandelle and Dewing would become an important passageway on campus so a fountain, red brick paving, and other landscaping details were designed by the landscaper Bob O’Boyle. Originally, this area was called the Piazza Mandelli but the name was dropped in favor of the more popular Red Square.
