When I first began this study, I intended to research television and mass communication in relation to these five concerns (distraction, media-hype, media-eze, content, and brainwashing). At the time, I thought that complaints were legitimate. It was not until I began digging deeper into the topic that I found much more than I had bargained for. In the following, I would like to let you in on what I found: I would like to describe the problems with television that contemporary, mainstream criticism leaves unquestioned.
