Abstract
Outdoor education can be described as any type of learning experience that pertains to the outdoors, and which also takes place in the outdoors. Besides an increase of knowledge about the natural environment, learning experiences in the outdoors may also include cultivation of outdoor skills and attitudes, as well ao development of an appreciation for the natural environment and all that it has to offer. Outdoor education is based on the Gupposition that knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment is best attained by direct contact and exposure to the natural environment. Acclimatization is an outdoor education program whose operating principles and objectives were developed from this same supposition.
