I was placed during my eleven week student teaching experience in the DeltonKellogg Public Schools. I can easily say that it was one of the most positive learning experiences I have ever had. My teaching day was split between the middle school and the high school which is not uncommon for the Delton-Kellogg teaching faculty. My mornings were spent in the middle school with Sharon Christensen teaching Physical Science to seventh graders. The second half of my day was spent in the high school with Harry Stolt teaching General Biology to ninth through twelfth graders. I also had the wonderful 0ppoltunity to participate in the extra curricular activity of co-coaching the seventh grade volleyball team. During my student teaching, I taught with Sharon Christensen and Harry Stolt. Sharon has been in education for a total or twenty-eight years. She has taught in the Delton School District for twenty-four years. Mrs. Christensen has also taught at Vicksburg High School and Western Michigan University. Sharon attended Western Michigan University and earned her master's in science education. In her twenty-eight years of teaching, she has instructed such classes as Advanced Biology, BSCS Biology Green Version, Physical Science, Biological Science, English, Eight Grade General Science, and Seventh Grade General Science. In her spare time, she helps coach the high school science olympiad team. Sharon resides in Delton with her husband Gordon. Mrs. Christensen has also received such distinguished awards as State of Michigan Teacher of the Year Award.
