My student teaching internship was completed at Grandville High School in Grandville, Michigan. The city of Grandville is adjacently situated southwest of the larger city of Grand Rapids. Grandville is a predominantly suburban area which includes an expansive shopping district, a few small industries and a centrally located high school. The High School has an enrollment of approximately 1220 students, which categorizes it as a class "A" in the state of Michigan. The school nickname is the "Bulldogs", and the school colors are maroon and white. The student body is neither racially nor culturally diverse. The overwhelmingly white enrollment contains racial minority percentages below those represented in the overall U.S. population. From a socioeconomic standpoint, the city's residents are mostly middle class with some upper middle class constituents. The majority of parents are in white-collar professions.
