The author presents five essays: an explication of Sylvia Plath's poem, Lady Lazarus; a character analysis of Gail Hightower from Faulkner's Light in August; a thematic essay on the relationship of man to time in Faulkner's Light in August; a comparison of Plath's poems I Am Vertical and Black Rook in Rain Weather; and a critical review of Plath's Crossing the Water. The author focuses on the writing process and this SIP includes all three drafts of each essay with comments.
