A Thousand Miles from here (This is not an Idle Threat)
This is basically a year and a half of my life, in poetry. It attempts to capture where I was and how I was feeling. It has been one of the most bizarre and important periods of my life. It has dragged me to Europe and Africa. It has seen me isolated, elated, and in the pits of depression. It feels as though an entire life has been compressed into only a year and a half. The first section contains only two pieces and comes from a brief backpacking trip of Europe in the summer of 1999. The second section comes from the six months I spent in Kenya on my study abroad. The third is the result of me locking myself away in a cabin for three weeks in the summer of 2000. It is called Boggy's Camp because that is the name of my uncle's cabin that I was using. The last section is from my time up north to the winter of 2001. There is no real way to categorize that time, so I just put all of the pieces into one section.
