Since my senior year in high school, I have been interested in the work of Joseph Campbell. Campbell studied the mythology of every culture he could find in order to find a common ground for humanity, to find was truly human about humans, and he discovered the repetition of certain themes and symbols in every mythology. Among these repeated themes, is the heroic adventure where a hero goes out into the unknown to find a message to bring back to heal his people. Heroic adventure stories have always been my favorite reading (among them The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse, and The Odyssey, by Homer). I don't know where, exactly, I got the idea to put an heroic adventure story, written in verse with the voices of the characters sampled in, over electronic music for my SIP, but when the idea came to me, it seemed natural.
