Abstract
This is a mongrel work; let him who would read it be
aware. The conception is that of a novel, though the execution
results in something approximately the length of a short
story. Characters are not fully sketched through their development, though development is indicated by the plot. There
are serious gaps in time sequence.
These are recognized deficiencies; the only defense that
can be made is that time has run out. Where the pen should be
taken in hand to complete a portrait, time has snatched it
away, sternly saying that it will allow nothing more to be
finished.
