Abstract
The hyperglycemia concurrent with obesity in mice has been found to be resistant to the administration of insulin. By using five different strains of mice, including a strain with induced obesity by means of goldthioglucose, comparison was made of the effects of insulin. A state of hypoglycemia was found to be readily induced in the lean control mice but the obese mice did not acquire this state and were found to be quite insulin resistant.
