A Study of Pulvini Response to Auxin and Other Substances
MetadataShow full item record
To pursue the idea that auxin works on the cell membrane, a study of pulvinus tissues of Phaseolus vulgaris was conducted. Although the physiology of natural leaf movement seems to be fairly complex, pulvinus tissue was thought to be good for this type of study because it responds quickly and is sensitive to auxin. The purpose of this study was to investigate the short term response of pulvinus tissue to auxin and other substances in order to gain more insight into the physiological effects of auxin on pulviaus cells specifically and, more generally, the effects of auxin in cell elongation.
