Effective collaboration with al the stakeholders is crucial to the success of the library project. You need yo know who to work with and who you need on your side, as well as how to navigate and manage the conflicting concerns of stakeholders throughout the project. This presentation offers guidance in involving stakeholders in all stages of plannnig and construction. Topics include: defining the internal planning team, choosing the external members (architects, library planners, and technology consultants), site visits to other campuses, the role of the library staff, how to get the most from your relationships with architects and planners, who must be inluded in open meetings, ensuring open and continuing communication, addressing resistance to the project, and manging constituent relationships after the library opens. This presentation was given at the "Undergraduate Library Planning and Revitalization" conference in Boulder, Colorado on March March 20, 2007.
