Abstract
Two thioarylformamidines were compared as toxicants against the carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus, in all stages of the life cycle. U-42558 was found to be approximately 10 x as effective as U-42564 against ova regardless of age at treatment. The relative toxicity of the former decreased following eclosion and subsequent mite maturity until both compounds were essentially equally toxic to adult female mites. Evidence is presented to indicate that leaf dip and spray evaluations produced similar adult mite toxicity data; however, slide dip evaluations were markedly less effective and failed to implicate either formamidine as being highly miticidal were compared as toxicants against the carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus, in all stages of the life cycle.
