The Potential Whitetail Deer Habitat of Forest Cover Types in Eastern Tennessee
Abstract
The relationship between forest cover type and preferred
whitetail deer browse in the shrub stratum was inspected. The
effect of aspect and soil type on the portion of the shrub
layer favored by deer also was examined. Aspect was the direction
in which a slope was facing. Percent presence of the preferred
deer browse species was used to rank forest cover types according
to their potential deer habitat value. The study area was eastern
Tennessee.
