    Abstract
The primary texts used for this study are the original English translation of J. Enoch, done by Hugo Odenberg, and a later more complete translation by P. Alexander. Other texts were used to provide a background to the Merkabah and Hekahlot traditions within which 3 Enoch falls. Additional material on Jewish mysticism was also consulted to give a greater understanding on this fascinating subject. The paper is divided into chapters. The aim of the first several is to acquaint the reader with some of the major themes and characters of the narrative. The middle chapters address the narrative of J. Enoch; the final chapters contain a glimpse into the world of the Merkabah with conclusion to the topic as a whole.
