Abstract
It is the purpose of this paper to examine Jordan's latest economic planning attempt. This is a seven year program which covers the years 1964 through 1970, hereafter the Plan. The Plan was prepared by the Jordanian Development Board during 1963 and the first part of 1964. This organization, during this period, was made up of 15 Jordanian nationals and three Ford Foundation advisors. They, together with the cooperation of the various ministries in the Government, drew up a plan that covered the entire economy. During the seven years the Plan calls for some JD222.8 million of investment, 60 percent of which will take p1ace in the private sector. This is expected to create an annual income growth rate of 6 percent, raising the Jordanian per capita income to somewhere near JD75.
