The Argonne National Laboratory 'Zero-Gradient Synchrotron': A General Survey with a Detailed Discussion of the Piccioni Target

Abstract

This paper is by no means intended to be a conclusive and complete report of the Argonne National Laboratory 'Zero Gradient Synchrotron'. Neither my background or the short period of my work there allows such a statement. I would rather hope to give an insight into the theory, construct1on and operation of the ZGS and its associated facilities as I have 1nterpreted them.
