Institution in Transistion: Orphanage to Residential Treatment Center
Abstract
The scope of this paper is three-fold. First, I
shall develop the present day problem of juvenile delinquency
and show the role of a residential treatment center
in meeting a social need of our society. Secondly. I
shall trace the history of the present Fred Finch Home,
which, in itself, reflects the changing needs of the times.
Finally, I shall describe the program of the institution
today: its objectives, treatment techniques, and current
problems. I shall not record any case histories, because
I was requested not to and because follow-up studies have
not been made to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
