Reston: Community Living with a Plan
MetadataShow full item record
I have explored how the residents feel about Reston and all the diverse opportunities, cultural and recreational, which the community has to offer. First, I have tried to make some kind of sketch of the picture of the people who are attracted to Reston. Then, I have tried to find out how they found out about Reston: which media of representation have had more influence during which periods of Reston's history, how people from different occupations heard about Reston, etc. What kinds of things attract a person to Reston, what is he hoping to find in a new town? What differences are to be found in the different residential areas? Do they attract different kinds of people or similar people? What happens to a person as he becomes integrated into the new community? How does he change? And lastly, what is the effect of children in Reston? How do residents react to them and what do the residents think of children, an important part of the life of any community. Finally, I have made up a happiness scale in which I have rated people on different aspects of their life and feelings about Reston to see how happy how many residents of Reston are.
