This project is concerned with the performance of plastic scintillation detectors in the detection of protons and indication of their energy. Of specific interest are proton-proton scattering events in which both protons are detected in coincidence and their energies analyzed. It is required that the scintillators are large to subtend a large solid angle at a given distance and that they indicate the energy of incident protons accurately. The detector in question consisted of NE. 102 scintillation plastic mounted on an RCA 8055 photomultiplier tube.en_US
