Abstract
The works included here in my Senior Individualized Project are the offspring of many hours of careful reflection, extensive yearning, catastrophic emotional outpour, thorough soul-searching, a deluge of tears, heart-wrenching disappointment, wild love, abandoned passion, blind faith, personal growth and a pinch of confidence. My SIP quarter was lavishly abundant with laughter, tears, learning, and awe as I spent my time as an environmental education teacher at The Environmental Schools of Maine. This was a unique opportunity for me to extend my knowledge and passion for nature into the education arena. It was also a wonderful time to witness both the metamorphosis of the land and of my feelings and understanding of the situations that sparked these works. Through an elaborate effort to cleanse myself of these introspection's, over the course of my stay in Maine and these subsequent months of revision, this project has been brought to a climax. I found the time to be both refreshing and disturbing as I was faced with the process of understanding myself and the situations which I have live through. I am touch by a love of language that extends into every realm of my life. Thus, I have tried to explain the instances and emotions that spurred each piece with as much clarity as possible to be understood by my readers. The importance of these pieces truly lies within my understanding of their influence upon who I am today. This is an understanding that grows with me daily as I learn to embrace their greater purpose in the larger scope of life.
