Abstract
I chose to deal with four of Atwood's eight novels: The Edible Woman, Surfacing, Life Before Man, and Cat's Eye. These novels span Atwood's decades-long career, from her first published novel to one of her most recent works. Each seems at first glance to be unrelated from the others in story line, characterization, and narrative structure. With close readings, however, I uncovered the common threads of the wilderness that run within and between each novel. In the end, I found them all to be intertwined; the ties between novels astounded me.
