    Abstract
Leften Stavrianos once wrote of the Balkan Committee, "It is a curious paradox that so little is known of the organization which has played so prominent a role in Balkan affairs from the date of its establishment to the present . . ." The little that was known intrigued me and prompted further inquiry. A truly exhaustive study of the Balkan Committee from 1903 to 1908 would include a far more extensive use of newspapers and of diplomatic records of several nations, particularly of the Balkan states, than has been possible. It is still hoped that, if no more is now known of the Balkan Committee, at least a part of what is known has been approached and recorded in a different and useful manner.
