Abstract
It is the intent of this paper to present a Victorian analysis of
Aurora Leigh, both criticisms and praises, and then to draw a present day
critique attempting to achieve a truer evaluation of the work by answering
some of the complaints registered at its advent which were purely sociological
prejudices, by investigating Mrs. Browning's skill as a poet, and by exploring
her subject in the light of a new age with different values and objectives.
