Abstract
The original purpose of this research project was to make a
descriptive study of the Family Service Center of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
After becoming familiar with the vast number or subjects and problems
handled by the center, the researcher decided to limit the scope of the
study to one area. The center expressed special concern and interest
in obtaining information about the area of marital conflict; this was
the result of the apparent concentration of cases dealing with problems
in this area. The study has dealt with various problems of marital
maladjustment, as well as problems of the centers specifically, the
use of the center and the return of the couples after the initial
intake interview.
