The stlmulat1on of potassium ion transport by beta-adrenergic oatecho1amines was studied in intact turkey erythrocytes. Isoproterenol produced increased oe1lular accumulation of cyclic 3' ,.5'-AMP and marked increases in potassium influx and fractional potassium outflux. Epinephrine and norepinephrine also produced this effect but were less potent than isoproterenol. The st1mulation of potass1um fluxes was dup11cated with exogenous cyclic 3', 5'-AMP. Ouabain did not affect the stimulation of potass1um influx produced by isoproterenol, but potent1ated the stimulation of fraotiona1 potassium outflux by isoprotereno1.
