Abstract
The purpose of this project was to examine the effects of the most prevalent phthalate ester, DEHP, on lipid synthesis in the fetal rat. It was to be an extension of the lipid synthesis work previously described, as wel1 as a continuation of studies on toxicity effects of DEHP in the fetal rat. Since DEHP or its metabolites cross the placental barrier, it seem.ed likely that DEHP would exert certain direct effects on the fetuses, such as the inhibition of lipid synthesis noted in adult rats.
