Using bovine arterial endothelial cell cultures, the phenomenon of platelet-endothelium interactions, notably adhesion, is studied. Endothelial cell contraction is taken as an early event in the onset of thrombosis and hence, as an important event preceding platelet adhesion. An attempt to develop an in vitro model for the study of platelet-endothelial interactions via scintillation counting is made.
