Computer Simulation of a Rotary Vacuum Precoat Filter
MetadataShow full item record
The most difficult step in the production of antibiotics is the filtration step. An attempt was made to improve the accuracy of an existing computer simulation in determining the sensitivity of the cost function with respect to four independent variables: dilution ratio of the beer, filter and addition ratio, submerged portion of the filter, and the rotational speed of the filter. Progress was made through correcting some equations in the simulation and by determining the experimental constants using improved techniques.Item marked "confidential" and therefore accessible only with permission of the Chemistry Department.
