His Heart for Bed and Board: The Confessional Poetry of Robert Lowell
Abstract
I do not propose to present an evaluation of "confessional"
poetry beyond Robert Lowell's particular stance
within and contribution to the movement. While it may
become apparent that the term "confessional" has little
significance when applied to the work of more than one
individual, the term nevertheless describes an extremely
important phase in Lowell's poetic development. In the
following chapter, the term "confessional" will be used
solely as it applies to Lowell's work. With honors.
