Abstract
This paper is meant to be a start, however small, in the direction of discovering what causes assassinations. In it I have made a study of the personalities and political philosophies of the assassinated Presidents, of the significant events of the Presidents' administrations and the public's reaction to these events, and of the lives of the assassins, in an attempt to discover if there were any strikingly similar characteristics among the assassinated Presidents, the times, and the assassins.
