dc.description.abstract | This paper is an attempt to give a brief history of the Federal
Theatre Project. Most countries have national theatres, but the United
States never had except during the three and one-half years of the
project's existence. The unique nature of the project first led me
toward this study. The problems which it faced as part of the WPA,
as well as the problems caused, make it a part of the history of the
New Deal as well as the history of the theatre. | en_US |
