The purpose of this paper is to provide a broader perspective of science education by evaluating or re-evaluating its nature and objectives, presenting a few principles of psychology and education which are pertinent, and creating a hypothetical program using these objectives and principles as guide lines. The paper will be based on present educational structures, including the classroom, teacher, and normally available facll1ties. This may not be the most efficient system, but it exists and I will work with it for the present. The paper also assumes somewhat that few elementary teachers have majored in a branch of science, but it is hoped that if not now, then in the future, they will have a basic background in scientific principles and thinking and some factual knowledge to illustrate these and add to textbook materials. With honors.
